A few months ago we were asked to be a part of something bigger than we had ever been involved with. Canada’s very own Pop and RnB star, Deesha. She was busy grinding harder than ever to producer her new album “200 Grams”!.
Where we fit into the puzzle was in creating the music video for her album’s lead single, “Lovesick”. With help from the mastermind diva herself we were able to put a plan into motion to create not only her music video, but our first official music video as well. So after about 2 weeks of bouncing ideas back and forth we felt we had something to work with that was within our capabilities. About a week later we had the details ironed out and we started planning the actual shoot. This entailed planning the journey as securing necessary gear, most of which, we had yet to get used to.

Filming took place over the course of two days back to back in Toronto. The entire first day was fine-tuning the lighting schemes, and running some tests for our remote dslr setup. Every iPhone and iPad throughout the entire shoot had a live view of exactly what the camera was seeing. Some of these lights were so big it was the only way to see what was going on.
Day two was the biggest day as it took place at a club that was rented out for the shoot. We arrived early to film some performance plates with Deesha before the dancers arrived on set. Once the dancers arrived, we moved on to more performance plates followed by the actual story line shots. 12 hours later, we were done at the club. We still had one more scene to shoot so we grabbed some midnight dinner and then hit the streets in search of our next setting. We came across an alley which was painted a very deep, yet shiny, black. We shot until around 3am before calling it wraps on the final piece to the video. With our return flight only a few hours away we decided to stay up and sort some of the footage to save time on the post production end of things. We returned home feeling great about our weekend and confident that we had plenty of great shots to work with but knowing that the video was only half way done.

Post production had a pretty straight forward path that started with sequencing out the video into its coherent form and ended with color correction and a tiny bit of 3d text integration. After sending it back to Deesha for the approval process, we were ready to go. All that was left was to wait for the official album release date for the video to be displayed. And that time is now, so have a quick peek at a few of our favorite stills from the video or skip to the bottom for the link.
**”Lovesick” will be released as a part of Deesha’s new album, 200 Grams. It is now available for download for FREE at www.deesha.com
